The E Street Shuffle bio

Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, The E Street Shuffle is a Bruce Springsteen tribute band that built itself from the ground up on the principals of being as musically authentic as humanly possible, while embodying the spirit, power and camaraderie of Springsteen & The E Street Band’s legendary live concerts. Since its inception in 2006, The E Street Shuffle has attained a sizeable following and earned a reputation as a band that lays it all on the line all night, every night. The 7-piece outfit performs at casinos, theaters, colleges, professional and collegiate sporting events, charity benefits, fairs and special events in addition to corporate functions, weddings, parties and an array of the top clubs and bars.  No other tribute band can boast to having vocals as close to Springsteen’s or a stage show that is as energetic and dynamic, and this is what sets The E Street Shuffle apart from the competition.

With a repertoire of well over a hundred songs, The E Street Shuffle prides itself on never playing the same show twice and providing different elements throughout each performance that appeal to different types of Springsteen fans from the very casual to the diehard fanatics. The band also has a unique ability to read and adapt to an audience on the fly, switching up a set list to accommodate requests and take the show in a different direction if need be.

Chris Rudo

Name: Chris Rudo
Birthplace: Jersey City, NJ
Nickname: The Pilot, that’s often what Sean says, but lately it’s been, “The Sexiest Man in the Band…” One is more accurate than the other.
Instruments: Bass
Favorite Springsteen song: (that maybe you wouldn’t think of) You’ll be Coming Down, Darkness on the Edge of Town (but you know that one).
Favorite artists other than Bruce: Most things the Funk Brothers played on, John Hiatt, Steely Dan, The Band, Iron Maiden (I’m not joking).
Favorite sports teams: NY Rangers, Yankees, Giants. Knicks too but in a “Point-and-Laugh” kinda way.
Favorite hangouts: With my sons.
Hobbies: coaching hockey.
Favorite road food stops: I’m not sure, who gives a crap about this? If you’re in the town, you know the food stop. If you’re looking to me, as a person who is passing through your town at 70 on the highway, to give you a food recommendation than you’re in worse shape than I thought. It’s bad enough you’re reading the bassist’s bio. I mean, who is reading this? Can you name another bassist? Really? Nikki Sixx is who you came up with!? God, stop reading this now.
Favorite movies: Glory, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Devil Wears Prada (c’mon, it’s good.)
Favorite TV shows: The Honeymooners, Game of Thrones, TSN’s Sportscentre.
Favorite mixed drink: I trust you’re able to make your own decision here without my influence.
Favorite beer: Shiner Bock, Newcastle is good, please stop reading these answers and do something more productive with your time.
Favorite local venue to perform: The ones when I’m not standing next to our PA board. If you see that pop up PA board with all the cables plugged in behind me just know that particular venue isn’t my favorite.
Favorite songs to perform live: I like the hidden gems, if it’s a B-side it’s for me! The less people know it the better. When I see them look at each other and think, “I wonder who is playing at Jenks?” that’s the song I wanna do. In fact, Dave and I really love the curveballs.
Favorite line from a Bruce song: As I sit here thinking of the great lines I can’t help but pause. Some lyrics are so personal and so dark that it’s hard for me to admit I relate to that feeling. I guess that’s the point. In all sincerity, do yourself a favor and find your own favorite Bruce line.
